Frequently asked questions

What is Talavera pottery?

A centuries-old Mexican ceramic tradition from Puebla. Clay is shaped by hand, coated in a white tin glaze, hand-painted, then high-fired, giving Talavera its distinctive depth of colour and glossy finish.

Are Mexican Talavera sinks durable?

Yes. The double-firing process creates a hard, chip-resistant surface built for daily bathroom use.

What colours are available?

Cobalt blue, sunshine yellow, deep terracotta, emerald, and multi-colour floral patterns. Because every basin is hand-painted, each piece is slightly different.

How are they made?

Local clay is hand-shaped, fired, glazed in white tin, hand-painted, then fired again at high temperature to fuse the colours into the glaze permanently.

Can Mexican ceramic sinks be used outdoors?

They are designed for indoor use but work well in covered outdoor areas. Avoid prolonged rain or freezing conditions, which can affect the glaze over time.
